Living in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands and one of the most exciting cities of the country. The city center, with its characteristic canals and tall town houses, has something to offer for everyone living in Amsterdam. Culture lovers will be amazed by the broad choice of museums, design stores and vibrant music scene. If you are more into shopping, you can spend your money either in the big shopping streets like the mainstream Kalverstraat, the cozy Negen Straatjes or the high-end P.C. Hooftstraat, or you can bargain like a local on the Albert Cuyp market.

The canal tours are, although touristy, a must and offer a great view of the city and its rich history. The clubbing scene is absolutely booming in Amsterdam, the hottest clubs of the country are gathered here. If you need a breather from the bustling city center, Amsterdams biggest park, Vondelpark, is the place to go when living in Amsterdam. Here you can enjoy a laid back picnic with friends, a nice game of soccer or go for a run.

It is easy to get around when living in Amsterdam. Public transport is highly developed and the city’s many attractions are also easily reached by foot or (rented) bike.

Amsterdam houses two universities, the University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit. Amsterdam and has the largest student population of the Netherlands.
